Kitsune are fox-like humanoids, who are able to take on a demi-human shape at will. This change doesn't really have any impact on the kitsune, but in some circles one form is trusted more than the other. Additionally, kitsunes may gain up to nine tails via ritual.

History

Kitsune were an early race. As magic became more prominent, it became a mainstay in kitsune culture. The elves might have created it, but the kitsune innovated it. The kitsune became dangerously powerful on their own. However, as timed changed, they found themselves unable to change social climates. They soon left for their own Plane. However, they left a power gap when raised questions about the race. Many other early races used this as a chance to slander them, painting them as cowardly and xenophobic. This, in turn, caused the remaining kitsune to become even less involved, creating a vicious cycle tarnishing their name.

Kitsune in general are similar to humans socially. However, even the most carefree of kitsune have become slightly jaded by the hate. Some play the role they've been cast, using their mastery of magic to aggravate or aggrieve those they come upon.

Racial Abilities

  • Additional Limb: Tail - Kitsune are able to undergo a ritual to add a magically-created tail. Long and demanding, the ritual adds some basic magical power and allows three known spells to cost three-quarters of their natural cost. This ritual can be repeated, although it becomes more demanding each time, up to eight times.
  • Magic Theory - Very Low - Kitsune start out with a vague notion of the rudiments of magic. This allows them to learn magic slightly quicker and receive a very small bonus on certain tests.
  • Mistrusted - Even active kitsune are generally disliked nowadays. They suffer penalties in most social exchanges. However, in cases where disbelief is advantageous, they receive bonuses.
  • Shapeshifting: Demi-Human
