Text Dump from Corvus[edit]
Formicids or Formids (as humans have translated their name for themselves) are an insect like people who live far underground in colonies. They are very few divisions between them, and each is expected to choose their job based on their skills they exhibit in their schooling and then perform it to the best of their ability, for the good of their collective community. They are tested rigorously for magical aptitude and psionics (which will put them into a higher ‘noble’ class of Formid society.) Unlike some other races, Formids base their respect for each other based on the good they do. A miner for materials is going to be as respected as a political leader.
The only exceptions are for the King and Queen of Formid society. They are given the highest honors and utmost respect. They are regarded as nigh perfect (as the Formid gods representatives on the physical plane) and unquestionable. Typically though they do not abuse this authority and the children who inherit the position and are awful at it are typically displaced by the council of nobles and paragons of Formid society is chosen to take their place.
They also have a limited access to a sort of hive mind. While it’s naturally psionic (or magical I’m not sure) it’s not all encompassing. Secrets are well kept, unless the guilt of it seeps into the hive mind while the Formid meditates. (They also require only an average of two hours of meditation to rest)
Formid reproduction sure is weird! When a Formid reaches maturity (typically after only a few years) they contribute their genetic material to a gigantic incestuous slurry (I’ve always wanted to type that) that’s in the middle of their hive. Specialized magic users take from this slurry and form eggs from it, from which hatch baby Formids. They are then taken care of by these caretakers, who also test them for their position they should take in Formid society.
There is little to no sexual dimorphism in this race, except for maybe fur patterns and the like. Blah blah blah, Drow live in the upper parts of the caves of Formids and typically the races get along quite well.
