Melee[edit]

In general, every character has the ability to fight unarmed. The character may choose to train it alone or along side a weapon, or they may choose to leave it untrained to focus on combat options instead.

  • Melee - The character fights like a person. They tend to focus on one target at a time, and attempt to block or otherwise avoid damage.
  • Feral Melee - The character fights like an animal. They tend to sweep wildly at multiple targets and focus on hitting back rather than avoiding.
    • Feral Melee is generally discouraged for PC use (especially as their only Melee option) due to the 'high damage out/high damage in' style that tends to work poorly for multiple encounters.
  • Probably some others later

Armed Combat[edit]

Restriction: Tier 2 or Higher, the Weapon Class

Weapon classes tend to grant a small combat bonus when trained. Furthermore, a character can have specific training with a specific type ('their' weapon), counting as a bonus when using it than when using another of the same class.

Current Classes:

  • Sword
  • Blah Blah Blah
  • Unique (DM's Discretion at allowing PCs to use this)

Note: Certain races are simply physically incapable of using certain weapons.

I'm not sure if untrained weapon usage works in the world. It seems like if you picked up a sword in real life with no idea how to use it, someone could probably disarm you fairly easily. Well, it's even easier here. Probably early on, but if you're fighting a major later enemy with a common weapon you've got no Proficiency in, chances aren't you won't be long.

Magic[edit]

Magic users tend to let their melee skills stagnate in favor for controlling their magical energy. Magic works similarly to Armed Combat training, but due to the fact magic costs mana to use it'll probably get a larger bonus. Furthermore, a character can have specific training with a specific type (such as a specific element), counting as a bonus above the others. This is extremely common amongst elemental magic users, as raising their full understanding is VERY expensive time- and experience-wise.

Current Schools:

  • Elemental (Earth, Ice, Light, Plantlife)
  • Healing
  • Binding
  • Chaos (DM's Discretion at allowing PCs to use this)

A untrained character MAY be able to use magic in the final version, but only as uncontrolled energy. 'Elemental' may be changed simply to 'Environmental.'

Support[edit]

Support abilities are generally the ability to use items that aren't weapons. Poisons and magic scrolls fall under this for now.

Miscellaneous[edit]

Some combat options don't fall into any of the above or are simply unique. These characters, therefore, have training under this.
